Senior Electronic Development Engineer
Reporting to: Product Development Director
Background:
PML is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electric motors, industrial joysticks and control systems for electric vehicles.
Through significant investment and innovation over the past 4 years the company has developed an innovative motor/drive package offering enhanced efficiency and major performance benefits.
Currently through key account partnerships the company is now applying this new technology into strategic markets, namely electric/hybrid vehicles, wind turbines, leisure industry products and underwater propulsion systems.
The company has a multi-disciplined engineering team primarily consisting of mechanical designers, electronic engineers, software engineers and product development engineers.
General:
Covering all aspects of product development from concept through to product release this is a hands on role requiring team leadership qualities. Typically involving detailing specifications, circuit design, modelling, breadboard design, liaison with PCB designers, product testing, product approvals, technical documentation and co-ordinating team members.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Investigating and exploiting new electronic technology/components
- Defining product specifications and requirements
- Detailing project plans
- Designing, modelling, implementing and testing new electronic products
- Producing schematics, PCB designs, BOMs and control documentation
- Responsible for managing projects and ensuring their timely completion
- Testing products/systems to satisfy performance and approval requirements
- Producing product documentation and test reports
- Supporting Sales and Production activities as required
Person Profile:
Educated to degree level with a minimum of 6 years industry experience the ideal candidate will have a power electronics and motor control background. Familiarity with embedded C programming would be beneficial. Experience of variable speed drives, motor drive systems, DC/DC converters and inverters would be preferred. A good communicator with the ability to work both individually and to lead/support a multi-disciplined engineering team is important.
