Manufacturing/Production Engineer
Reporting to: Production Manager
Hours:
37.5hrs per week (although flexibility required to meet deadlines for specific customer projects)
Job purpose:
To support the Engineering Department in design for manufacture, manufacturing tool design, new product introduction and production methodology.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Manufacturing tool design
- New product introduction
- Ensuring that materials are received in time for PML to meet customer deadlines.
- New method introduction
- Build processes documentation
- Setting up or assisting in value engineering methods for cost reductions
- Supporting design with technical and manufacturing methods
- Departmental reporting as required
- Assisting in assembly and manufacturing costing evaluations
- Maintaining regular, consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures
- Pursuing personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role
Person Spec:
- Engineering apprenticeship
- Minimum HNC qualification
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Manufacturing/Production Engineer type role preferred
- Process and method introduction
- Understanding of JIT and lean manufacturing
- Tool design and DFM
- Experience of documentation control
- Flexible self starter with hands on approach
- Exposure to both mechanical and electrical engineering
