PML takes flat motors 1 step further
|
PML Flightlink has taken its 'flat' approach to motor design 1 step further and developed a highly compact robot actuator.
|
The assembly consists of a powerful 320W permanent magnet brushless dc motor, 2048ppr encoder, parking brake and planetary gearhead in a total length of only 107mm. The motor, encoder and brake represent only 65mm of this total length.
The diameter of the assembly is only 90mm rising to 110mm at the gearhead interface point.
With a continuous rated output of 5Nm at a speed of 640rpm the actuator lends itself to many applications requiring high power in a compact solution.
The design resulted in PML having to design its own ultra flat encoder and the FE2048 was developed. With the entire encoder electronics potted in epoxy and housed in a stainless steel housing the FE2048 is probably the flattest most robust encoder available.

The FE2048 can be supplied as a stand alone product with outputs ranging from 400ppr to 2048ppr available today. RS422 and SSI outputs as standard. With zero data loss up to 20000rpm (10000rpm for 4096) most applications can be accommodated.
