September 2007 DSEi Exhibition 2007 PML Flightlink will be showing the revolutionary Mini QED at DSEi this month. This is Europe’s premier defence show, held at London’s Excel centre from the 11th to the 14th of September. The Mini QED (which showcases PML’s Hi-Pa Drive™ in-wheel motors) will be on stand 1123. Following the successful debut of this vehicle at the 2006 British Motor show, and its subsequent appearance at EVS22 in Yokohama, this remarkable demonstration of PML’s technology will once again be on display. The Mini QED has 4 in-wheel motors, each of which can deliver 120kW and 750Nm of torque. These motors also contain PML’s patented inverter drive technology, which gives the combined weight of the motor (with internal inverter drive) of less than 26kg. The Mini QED’s 480kW and 3000Nm of torque available at the wheels (combined with full traction control and anti-skid technology) has caught the attention of a wide range of vehicle manufacturers. One application of PML’s technology is being unveiled to the world by a major car company at September’s International Motor Show in Frankfurt. The revolutionary Hi-Pa Drive™ system’s true internal design modularity offers exceptional scope for rethink of design throughout the military sector. With interchangeable internal components, support and logistics can be evolved. Hi-Pa Drive™ systems can be utilised for direct drive in wheel systems, turret and weapon station drives, radar, winch and generator drives etc etc etc. With fully accessible, inter changeable, drive and power electronics the continued functionality of key operational axis can be achieved. With almost 100% redundancy characteristics of Hi-Pa Drive™, operational time will be increased with vehicle and axis downtime considerably reduced. Fully scaleable mechanics and electronics allow Hi Pa drive to be produced from 300mm diameter to fully linear systems. No vehicle is too big and 20 tonnes plus can be considered and designed for.
